11 dead, 6 others injured in Pittsburgh synagogue shooting

Eleven people were killed and six others injured when a gunman opened fire at a Pittsburgh synagogue Saturday morning, authorities said.

The suspect reportedly identified as Robert Bowers, 46, was taken into custody in what is being investigated as a hate crime. He stormed the Tree of Life synagogue building, yelling, «All Jews must die.»

President Donald Trump said anti-Semitism must be condemned and confronted.

«Our minds cannot comprehend the cruel hate and the twisted malice that could cause a person to unleash such terrible violence during a baby-naming ceremony — this was a baby-naming ceremony — at a sacred house of worship on the holy day of Sabbath,» he said.
