Apple Inc. on Tuesday took the wraps off its new iPad Pro high-end tablet that features an edge-to-edge display and unlocking via facial recognition software.
At an event in New York, the U.S. tech giant said the iPad Pro, offered in 11-inch and 12.9-inch screen sizes, will be available in stores on Nov. 7, with the price tag ranging from $ 799 to $ 1,149.
Apple has dropped the home button and fingerprint sensor from the new model in favor of thinner bezels around the edges and facial recognition, similar to changes seen in last year’s iPhone X and this year’s iPhone XS, XS Max and XR.
The company also unveiled a new MacBook Air laptop after years of only minor performance boosts. The new version has a 13.3-inch screen with a fingerprint sensor for unlocking.
Last month, the company released three new iPhone models and a revamped Apple Watch that doubles as a medical device. The popular smartphone line accounted for 56 percent of Apple’s sales in the April-June quarter.
