Football: Leicester City owner dies in helicopter crash

Leicester City’s owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha died in a helicopter crash along with four others on Saturday evening outside the English Premier League club’s stadium in Leicester, England, the club confirmed Sunday.

According to the club, Vichai’s helicopter crashed into a car park shortly after taking off from King Power Stadium in the East Midlands region and none of the five people on board survived.

«Words cannot even begin to express my sorrow what happened yesterday. He will always be in our heart,» Leicester City striker Shinji Okazaki said on Twitter.

«He was truly a great man for the club and for me as well. We will all miss him,» he said.

The 60-year-old Thai billionaire bought the then Championship club in 2010, with Leicester going on to win the 2015-2016 Premier League title.

Former Japan international Okazaki signed with the club in 2015.
