Gymnastics: Japan’s Murakami gets silver in women’s all-around at worlds

Mai Murakami captured the silver in the women’s individual all-around competition at the world gymnastics championships on Thursday, giving Japan its first-ever silver medal in the category.

The 22-year-old earned 55.798 points to place second behind Simone Biles of the United States, who won a record-breaking fourth world title.

Morgan Hurd, an American who is the 2017 gold medalist, took the bronze.
