Japan mulls Trump meeting with new emperor in May

The Japanese government is considering inviting U.S. President Donald Trump as a state guest in May, government sources said Tuesday.

The government is trying to arrange a meeting between the U.S. president and Crown Prince Naruhito, who will ascend the imperial throne on May 1, according to the sources.

If the meeting is held, Trump would be the first foreign guest to meet with the new emperor.
