Toshiba Brave Lupus picked up their first win of the Japan Rugby Top League 2018-2019 season Sunday as they held on to beat Ricoh Black Rams 20-17 at Komazawa Olympic Park Stadium.

Ricoh, who picked up a bonus point for losing by seven or less, also have five points, four less than leaders Panasonic Wild Knights and Yamaha Jubilo. The Black Rams lead Toshiba on point difference.
Toshiba’s points came from Kahui, whose tries came in the 12th and 49th minutes, and new flyhalf Mike Harris, who kicked two conversions and two penalty goals.
Shuhei Matsushima and Amanaki Lotoahea both crossed for Ricoh, with Robbie Robinson adding the extras to both tries to go with a first-half penalty.
This season, the league’s 16 teams have been split into two conferences, Red and White. Following seven rounds of pool games, the top four sides from each group will play for the league title.
The bottom eight sides will fight it out to determine the four teams that enter into the relegation/promotion playoffs with the top four teams from the second-tier Top Challenge League.
