Typhoon Mangkhut leaves at least 25 dead in Philippines

A violent typhoon that slammed the northern Philippines with high winds and heavy rainfall in recent days left at least 25 people dead, a government official said Sunday.

Most of the victims of Typhoon Mangkhut were caught up in landslides in mountainous areas on the main island of Luzon after the powerful storm made landfall Saturday, the official at the presidential office said.

The typhoon was moving toward Hong Kong and China on Sunday.
