Japan’s Yui Susaki, Haruna Okuno and Yukako Kawai each reserved berths in their weight class finals at the world wrestling championships on Wednesday.
Susaki and Okuno were last year’s world champions in the women’s 48-kilogram and 55-kg divisions, respectively. They competed in the 50-kg and 53-kg divisions this year.
Elsewhere for Japan, Ayana Gempei and Hiroe Minagawa each clinched bronze in the women’s 65-kg and 76-kg categories.
On Tuesday, Rio Olympic gold medalist Risako Kawai and 2016 world champion Mayu Mukaida won their respective weight class finals at the championships.
Takuto Otoguro also won the 65-kg freestyle final on Monday, becoming Japan’s youngest male world gold medalist at the age of 19 years and 10 months.
